Senator Romney want to make electronic verification system permanent
Republican Senator Mitt Romney has introduce new legislation to make an electronic verification system used to check the legal status of potential workers a permanent fixture.
The Permanent E-Verify Act would remove current provisions in the law that require Congress to extend the program repeatedly.
E-verify is a web-based system that allows businesses to confirm the eligibility of workers in the U.S., matching the information on their I-9 forms against federal records.
It is currently set to expire on September 30th.
