(Washington, DC) -- A southern Utah man will spend the next three years on probation following his sentencing for his role in last year's riot at the U.S. Capitol building. Willard Jake Peart of Washington County will also spend 60 days in home detention following yesterday's sentence. Peart pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge earlier this year. While Peart was seen inside the Capitol during last year's January 6th riot, prosecutors said he had been very cooperative during the investigation and did damage property or assault police officers during the event.
