The Utah Chapter of Black Lives Matter is denying any part in violent protests in Salt Lake City over the weekend.

Founder Lex Scott said yesterday that her group had nothing to do with Saturday's protests that left a trail of graffiti and property damage.

Scott says she doesn't believe many of the protesters that were downtown on Saturday have been to any Black Lives Matter meetings on police reform.

She also denounced activists who incite violence, saying that is not what the Black Lives Matter movement is about.

Scott said those who say Black Lives Matter is to blame for Saturday's violence are missing the point.
