Unintended consequence of protests is Covid-19

One unintended consequence of the protests that have happened in Salt Lake City may be the further spread of COVID-19. 

Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall says she is worried that the last few days of protests are only going to increase the number of positive tests for the virus.

State epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn said yesterday that the behavior she saw during weekend protests was alarming. 

Dunn said she saw large groups of people gathering without face masks or social distancing, something that could cause the virus to spread even more. 

She urged all protesters to monitor themselves for symptoms and, if they develop, then get tested and self-isolate until the test results come back.
