Southwest Utah health officials are reporting a drop in the region's daily COVID-19 cases.

The local health department says the last five days have brought in about 209 new cases as compared to the five days before that, which amounted to 260 cases.

The drop is being attributed to a combination of completed testing at Purgatory, the subsiding surge from the Fourth of July and more people wearing face coverings.

The recent numbers could potentially be a significant sign of an improvement of the area's coronavirus curve.
