Mexican authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with the ambush that left nine members of a fundamentalist Mormon group dead last month.

Attorney General of the Republic Alejandro Manero says the Mexican military made the arrests, but has not provided any details about which drug cartel the suspects may be connected to.

The attack killed three women and six children who were members of the LeBaron family.

Authorities believes the family was caught between a territorial dispute involving two cartels in the region.
