Researchers at the University of Utah say the state could begin seeing the peak of the current COVID-19 outbreak beginning this Friday.

Members of the university biostatistics department say they have used the way the pandemic affected Italy as a model for their prediction.

The researchers expect the state to have ten-thousand cases by August, at which time the spread of the virus is expected to be mostly complete.

The prediction also assumes that Utahn's will continue practicing safe social distancing behavior until the virus has run its course.
