Over eight-thousand University of Utah graduates are celebrating remotely after the university held its first-ever virtual commencement ceremony.

President of the university, Ruth V. Watkins, says it's not the celebration they wanted to give the students, but what matters most is that they made it to the end.

The university awarded nearly 93-hundred degrees yesterday as the deans of the various colleges took turns for screen time.

The traditional in-person ceremonies are set to be held late this year on December 18th through the 19th.
