Utah lawmakers laying foundation for future
Utah lawmakers are laying the groundwork for decisions that will affect the state two to three decades from now.
Utah House Speaker Brad Wilson was among the members of the legislature who held a policy summit at Camp Williams yesterday to discuss growth, land use, affordable housing and transportation.
The ongoing discussion on restructuring Utah's tax base was also a topic, with several lawmakers supporting a cut to the state's four-point-nine-five sales tax rate.
Wilson said lawmakers need to make the difficult decisions now so they don't become bigger problems down the road.
Wilson says lawmakers have to start making the tough decisions on future policies and laws right now.
