Utah is on the naughty list this year.

A recent report from Vivint Solar looked at states with the nicest and naughtiest energy, based on the percentage of energy that typically comes from burning coal.

Utah placed 45th with last year's coal usage at 65-percent.

The naughtiest state was West Virginia, while Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont all tied for the nicest.

Experts say besides contributing to climate change, burning coal emits harmful particulates that have been linked to numerous ailments, including asthma, cancer, and neurological disorders.
