Utah Supreme Court orders AG to weigh in on gender marker changes for birth certificates
The Utah Supreme Court has ordered the Attorney General's Office to weigh in on the issue of gender marker changes for birth certificates.
Two Utahns sought the changes for their birth certificates last year, but an Ogden judge refused to allow them.
However, other judges in Utah have granted similar requests.
The Utah AG's Office has tried to stay out of the debate, but in an order today Associate Chief Justice Thomas Lee called on Attorney General Sean Reyes to present his views involving constitutional questions presented in the case.
