Officials with the Utah Department of Commerce caution residents to beware of scams involving the coronavirus.

Officials say con artists take advantage of the public during times of fear and confusion.

They have found emails and posts promoting prevention tips with false information.

The emails ask for recipients to donate to victims and may contain malicious attachments.

They also caution against responding to emails offering vaccinations or treatments.
