Child undocumented immigrants now allowed to be licensed attorneys
Undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children will now be allowed to become licensed attorneys in Utah.
The Utah Supreme Court has approved a new rule that creates a path for those who have qualified for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program to take the bar exam.
Under the change, DACA recipients can apply to the bar if they meet all other requirements.
Previously, the bar would deny admission to anyone who could not "establish that they are legally present."
