Utah businesses looking for help during the coronavirus emergency may not get as much help from the state as they hoped.

A small business loan program announced by the state last week received nearly three-thousand requests before Friday's application deadline.

The total amount of money requested is far more than the eight-point-five-million dollars set aside by the state.

The Governor's Office of Economic Development plans to seek more funding from state lawmakers, but there is no timetable for when that additional money might become available.
