Mormon missionaries are having to cut their service short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Male missionaries with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints usually serve for two years, but the pandemic is speeding their release if they have served 18 months.

Female missionaries who have served for at least 15 months will be released too.

Those not meeting the cut off will still return to the U.S. then self-isolate for 14 days and be reassigned.

Missionaries unable to return home due to travel measures will remain in their original mission unless a reassignment is necessary.
