First human case of West Nile virus in Washington County

The Southwest Utah Public Health Department has confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in Washington County this year.

The adult who contracted it is one of two confirmed cases in Utah. The Salt Lake County Health Department has diagnosed the first-known human case of West Nile virus in Salt Lake county this year.

Director Ilene Risk of the Salt Lake County Epidemiology Bureau says West Nile generally sends very few people to the hospital.
