We All Did This When We Were Young, And It’s Illegal
Every state has some strange laws on the books, but this Utah law is one that we've all broken. Well, a lot of us. Do you know how to ride a bike? In Utah it is still illegal to ride your bike with no hands. We are all law breakers!
Who hasn't said, "look mom, no hands!?"
Why on earth is that illegal? Do you know anyone who was arrested for riding their bike with no hands? Zero. I don't know anyone who even knew this was against the law. What I do know is I liked riding a bike. We rode them everywhere. It was the mode of transportation.
Parents were working and often didn't know exactly where we were. You've seen the memes of a pile of bikes. You knew where the party was by looking for that pile of bikes on someone front lawn.
Now I haven't ridden a bike for years! (These pics may show, why.) We get so busy we forget to take care of ourselves. We forget to have fun. We forget to enjoy exercise.
Did you know that riding a bike for 30 mins can help burn the type of fat that likes to form on your belly? That is the deadly stuff too! Harvard Health Publishing reports that 30 minutes of moderate-intensity stationary biking burns about 210 calories for a 125-pound person, 252 calories for a 155-pound person, and 292 calories for a 185-pound person. If you ride outside, you get some fresh air and some vitamin D. Plus here in a month or two you could be sweating up a storm as well. So find your inner child and get outside and bike.
