See Flooding And Gorgeous Waterfalls At The Full Gunlock Reservoir

With the inordinate amount of water southern Utah is receiving, there is plenty of flooding and waterfalls to be aware of.

With videos of people surfing flood waters, State officials have asked that we be cautious and stay safe in major snow and flooding areas.

Locals in the cities of Ivins and Veyo, near Gunlock State Park, are glad to see the Santa Clara River with more water than its had in a long time. Officials are watching the rise in the river and have had to take some rails off of several bridges to allow the water to flow.

Officials urge visitors to be safe on the slippery rocks near the waterfalls. The last time the falls were flowing this hard, there was loss of life.

You can see the falls from the road, but to see their full beauty, you need to take a short hike. It only took about 5 mins to make it to a great viewing spot.

When my family visited the falls, there were kids jumping and running all over the rocks near the falls. Enjoy the beauty, but stay safe.

It really is a gorgeous oasis in the desert. ♥

The Gunlock falls are moving swiftly with rain and snowmelt. Snowmelt in southern Utah is just getting started for the season.
