NASA was able to send a video from deep space back to Earth. The test went amazingly well. It only took 101 seconds for the 15-second video to make a 19 million-mile trip.

The speed of travel for the video was 267 Mbps. That is a fast connection. To give you a comparison the average speed in Utah is 192 Mbps. That means that the NASA streaming speed was 33% faster than what we are used to.

So what video did NASA choose to send? It was none other than a cat video. Yeah, you heard that right a cat video. The video featured an orange tabby cat named Taters who was chasing a laser light. The cat belongs to one of the staff at the jet propulsion laboratory.

Now I am no deep space laser expert, but a cat video? What if aliens were able to interrupt the feed? What would they think of us? What video do you think they should have sent?

Another, maybe more important, question what would you do if we had the speeds NASA was able to accomplish?

With an upgraded connection you could join virtual flash mobs wowing the internet with your synchronized dance moves.

What about online meetings? You could answer a request with a report before your boss finished asking for it. Would meetings go faster if you didn't have laggy connections?

Online gaming would be sweeter if you could outmaneuver opponents due to your connection. Or think how fast you could build in Minecraft.  Suddenly a new connection speed seems important.

How about your food uploads? Come on you know the only thing keeping you from uploading that omelet is your slow connection speed.

So yeah, let's see if NASA can share their deep space connection with us, and let's get busy.
