A Canadian man is in critical condition in Grand Junction, Colorado, after he was struck by a loose rock while hiking with his wife near Moab.

Officials say the pair were hiking in the Fisher Towers area when a basketball-sized boulder detached from a cliff above them and hit the man in the side.

Emergency crews saw other rocks falling in the same area as they rescued the man.
