Members of Congress have asked the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to remove or alter a gravestone in Salt Lake City adorned with a Nazi swastika.

The gravestone at Fort Douglas Post Cemetery is for a German prisoner of war from World War Two named Paul Eilert who died in 1944.  It includes a Knight's Cross with a small swastika.

In a letter VA Secretary Robert Wilkie, a bipartisan group of House lawmakers calls on the department to change its policy of leaving gravestones at National Cemeteries unaltered, stating it should not apply to those who took up arms against the United States.
