People in St. George are continuing to protest to maintain the Dixie nickname in the city as several hundred of them gathered at city hall yesterday.

One demonstrator says they don't think the name Dixie has to do with slavery and racism, but rather it's community and family.

Mayor Jon Pike was at the scene and told protesters that there were no plans to change the name and he was met with some boos and accusations of not being a strong enough defender for the name.

Despite how some leaders in the area feel about the nickname, education officials are considering a name change for Dixie State University.
