Staff member at Red Rock Canyon School accused of child abuse

A staff member at a youth residential treatment center in Saint George is accused of punching a teenage girl.

Authorities say Gino E. Sanchez, who works at Red Rock Canyon School, was charged Tuesday with child abuse.

Police were called to the school in April about a brawl that injured 25 people.

A 17-year old girl told officers that Sanchez had pulled her hair and punched her in the face in front of students and staff members.

In May, the state of Utah warned the school it could lose its license over nine violations.
