Utah business owners targeted by scammers
Scammers are targeting business owners in Utah.
Tamara Wilcox, a Tooele County small-business owner, got a letter saying she owed 72 dollars for a Certificate of Existence.
Wilcox had just gotten a certificate online from the State of Utah.
The letter looked real and it had the state crest on it, but it said the 72 dollars was for three years.
Wilcox had been told the cost was 36 dollars for three years.
The State of Utah confirmed the letter was a fake.
People who've received the letters are asked to contact the state Division of Corporations.
