A Utah company that makes protein bars is being sued by a former employee after reportedly telling employees not to talk about COVID-19 at work.

Attorney Mark Carlson says his client is suing Built Bar because the company put employees at risk by not following coronavirus health guidelines.

Victoria Flores says she contracted the virus and then her daughter also became infected and had to spend several weeks in the hospital.

She also claims the company threatened to fire any employee who talked about COVID-19 with other workers.

The company's CEO says supervisors were actually trying to tell employees that medical privacy laws prohibit asking other people about their health and that they could be fired for doing so.

Built Bar CEO Nick Greer denies the claims made in the lawsuit.
