Abortion ‘Trigger Law’ Remains On Hold
(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A judge granted an injunction that will keep Utah's abortion "trigger law" on hold. The judge in the case granted the preliminary injunction requested by the ACLU and Planned Parenthood to block Utah from enforcing a ban on elective abortions. Both groups challenged the trigger law, saying it violated the Utah Constitution under the right to determine family composition and to parent, the rights of conscience and the right to privacy. The Utah Attorney General's Office plans to challenge the injunction before the Utah Supreme Court.
