(Salt Lake City, UT) -- A judge in Utah is granting a temporary restraining order that will block Utah's abortion trigger law for two weeks. The ACLU and Planned Parenthood filed for an emergency injunction over the weekend, challenging the ban on elective abortions. Attorneys claim the law violates Utah's constitution under the right to determine family composition and to parent, the rights of conscience and the right to privacy. The judge's order means abortions can resume under previous state restrictions. A hearing for a preliminary injunction will be scheduled at a later date.
