ACLU threatening legal action for enforcement of homeless camps
The ACLU is threatening potential legal action against Salt Lake County over the way it enforces homeless camp cleanups.
In a letter sent to the county health department, the District Attorney's Office and Mayor Jenny Wilson, the organization accuses the county of violating due process rights for homeless individuals.
Jason Groth of the ACLU says people in those camps are not getting proper notification about the items that are confiscated by police, and where they can be retrieved.
The group is asking county leaders to revise their policies or face a potential lawsuit.
