City of St. George to conduct municipal elections through by-mail election process

For the first time, the City of St. George will conduct its municipal elections in a by-mail process for three City Council seats. Ballots for the August primary election will be mailed to registered voters between July 23-29, ahead of the Aug. 13 election day.

The November election will also be conducted on a vote-by-mail basis.

“Washington County saw an increase in voter participation when they conducted their 2018 general election in a by-mail election process,” said City Recorder Christina Fernandez. “I feel this process will continue to encourage increased participation in our municipal elections.”

Vote-by-mail ballots can be submitted in many ways:

• Mailed to the County Clerk’s office (must be postmarked or otherwise marked as received by the post office no later than one day prior to the election)
• Dropped off at a Vote Center on the day of the election
• Drop boxes at the St. George or Santa Clara branch of the Washington County Library, or the Washington County Administration Building

Those wanting to vote in person may do so on election day at the following Vote Center locations:

• Santa Clara Branch Library (1099 Lava Flow Drive)
• Washington County Administrative Building (197 East Tabernacle)
• Dixie Convention Center (1835 S. Convention Center Drive)
• South Mountain Community Church (3158 East 2000 South)

The November general election will also be conducted in a by-mail election process. Ballots for the November general election will be mailed to registered voters between Oct. 15-22, ahead of the Nov. 5 election day.
