Flash flooding a concern for wildfire residents
Homeowners living near the Gun Range Fire burn scar will have to keep a close eye on the sky for the next decade.
The Utah Division of Emergency Management is sending staff members door to door this week to help evaluate the risk of flash flooding caused by the fire.
State floodplain manager Kathy Holder the area is likely to be at risk for at least ten years.
Emergency management staffers are urging homeowners to sign up for flood insurance through a program run by FEMA.
Holder says homeowners have to take steps now to protect themselves in the future.
