Governor Herbert wants more refugees to come to Utah
Governor Gary Herbert is pushing the Trump administration to allow more refugees to come to Utah to resettle.
Herbert's letter to the President comes in direct response to an order to cut the number of refugees that would be accepted by the U.S.
President Trump also issued an executive order, giving states the power to accept refugees.
In his letter, Herbert brings up Utah's history as a land settled by "religious refugees fleeing persecution" in the United States.
The governor also states that Utah has enough resources to accommodate larger numbers.
