Governor signs bills after special session
Governor Herbert is applying his signature to a series of bills passed by the Legislature in a special session last week.
Yesterday the governor signed bills that scrapped a state-run dispensary system for medical cannabis, opting to let privately run pharmacies handle the distribution of the drug.
The governor also signed a bill that will allow grocery and convenience stores to start buying heavier beer so they will be ready to sell it on November 1st, the first day those sales will be legal in Utah.
Herbert also signed a bill approving a one-point-five-million dollar settlement with former state Attorney General John Swallow related to his acquittal on corruption charges.
