BE WARNED: This Restaurant Is Good… But WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!
I go try a lot of restaurants here in Southern Utah! It's a lot of fun for me, plus it's content that I can write stories about. I usually try to only post positive reviews from each place I visit. But sometimes restaurants are SO BAD that I literally scrap the entire article because I didn't have enough nice things to say. This is NOT one of those articles... But it's close.
THE RESTAURANT:
It was my dad's birthday and with my sister and brother in law, we took him to eat at a restaurant I've never had. The restaurant was Kaiseki Sushi at The Terrace at the Red Cliffs Mall. This is on the northwest side of the mall, in the new strip they built last year. My dad really loves sushi. I don't, but I love Japanese food. I knew they had more than JUST SUSHI, so it felt safe.
THE MENU:
The prices on this menu are on the HIGH end for sure! They've got...
- Soup
- Salad
- Sushi
- Beef
- Chicken
- Fried Rice
- Noodles
- Salmon
- Cod
- Skewers
- Curry
- Appetizers
- More
MY ORDER:
I'm a big fan of the steak and fried rice, so I reluctantly ordered the Shaking Beef. It's Black Angus Filet Tenderloin with Fried Rice and Miso Soup. I was reluctant because of the pricetag: $25.95! WOW. I decided to just bite the bullet and go for it because it was my dad's birthday and it was probably going to be fantastic.
The food came out and I was instantly disappointed with how small the portion was. There was maybe 8 little pieces of steak, a tiny little mound of fried rice, and some salad in the middle. It had to be MAYBE 6 oz. of steak. MAYBE! The flavor of the steak was good, and the fried rice was also good, but as I ate, I couldn't believe I was about to pay around $30.00 for this! I was wondering If I could've gotten way more food at Sakura for less. I definitely would've gotten more food there, but would it have been cheaper? I think so.
Within about 5 minutes my entire meal was gone and your boy was STARVING at this point. I was already looking around the parking lot thinking of what I should eat next. I even told my family that I was game planning my next meal. Once we were done, we paid, I told my dad I was starving and I was across the street at Arctic Circle within the next two minutes!
BEWARE:
Yes... The food was good and flavorful, but I didn't believe it was worth the money. I was nowhere near filled up from it. If you want good food, you should try this place, but definitely beware of the pricing and the portions at Kaiseki Sushi.
