I was finishing a meeting last week, then turned around a day later to start my meeting only to find, “Waiting for the host to start the meeting.” on the app. I was confused because I was the host. I was sitting there with my hair done (OK, my bald head polished), the lighting set, and Coke Zero within reach. Yet Zoom insisted that I was basically a guest waiting on… myself.

If this has happened to you the culprit is almost always the same:
You’re logged into the wrong Zoom profile.

The Fix, Hidden Like a Utah Mining Treasure Map  

Switching profiles is ridiculously simple — once you know where it is. But it’s tucked away just enough that most of us spend 10 minutes clicking around like we’re trying to find the last parking spot at Harmons.

Here’s the life hack:

1. Open Zoom.
2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
   (Yes, the tiny circle you never notice unless you hate the photo.)
3. Look directly below your picture — there’s a button that lets you:
   • Switch to another existing profile, or
   • Add a new one if you’ve got multiple accounts floating around.

That’s it. Two clicks. But somehow it feels like discovering the Fremont petroglyphs behind the gas station.

When you’re hosting a recurring meeting — same link, same time, same people — Zoom doesn’t care unless you are logged into the exact account that created it. Otherwise, it treats you like a visitor from Nevada.

You Are the Zoom Master Again

Next time Zoom tells you the host hasn’t arrived, don’t panic. Don’t restart your computer. Don’t text your whole group “One sec, Zoom is being weird.”

Just click your little profile picture, switch to the right account, and boom — you’re the host again.
