Kanab Hosts Four-day Conference On UFOs And Paranormal Activity

Southern Utah has never exactly suffered from a shortage of things we don’t understand. We have mysterious rock formations, ancient petroglyphs, lost treasure legends, strange lights in the sky and enough remote canyon country to make a person wonder what, exactly, is going on out there.

Apparently, that’s not enough mystery for some people.

All Things Mysterious Explored In Kanab

The Mysterious X Conference is coming to Kanab September 24 through 27, bringing together researchers, investigators, treasure hunters and assorted people who are apparently willing to spend their evenings wandering around the desert looking for things the rest of us would probably prefer to leave unexplained.

The four-day event at the Historic RedStone Theater and other locations around Kanab will focus on UFOs and UAPs, paranormal activity, Bigfoot, ancient mysteries, lost treasure and hidden history.

You know, the usual Southern Utah stuff.

The conference includes presentations from people involved in UFO investigations, paranormal research and treasure hunting, along with researchers connected to television programs such as “Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch” and “America Unearthed.” There will also be opportunities for attendees to participate in nighttime investigations and expeditions.

Because apparently watching a presentation about something strange isn’t nearly as much fun as going outside after dark to see if you can personally encounter it.

One of the event’s more intriguing themes is the long-running search for the legendary Montezuma’s Aztec treasure, which has been the subject of speculation and treasure hunting in the Southwest for generations.

There will also be discussion and exploration involving ancient petroglyphs, unexplained phenomena and the possibility that Southern Utah contains more mysteries than we have yet managed to catalog.

And, honestly, Kanab may be one of the few places where all of this sounds almost reasonable.

This is a part of the country where you can drive down a dirt road, look at a perfectly ordinary-looking pile of red rocks and immediately find yourself wondering whether you’re looking at a geological formation, an ancient message, evidence of extraterrestrial visitation or the place where somebody buried a treasure chest 500 years ago.

Usually, it’s probably just a rock.

Sure.

Mysterious X is essentially taking that Southern Utah sense of wonder and turning it into a four-day event. Whether you’re a true believer, a dedicated skeptic or simply someone who enjoys a good mystery, it promises plenty of material to ponder.

And if nothing else, it gives us one more reason to look toward the night sky over Southern Utah and wonder what’s up there.
