The Kaysville City Council is at odds with Mayor Katie Witt over a protest concert she approved for later this month to flout state coronavirus restrictions.

On Thursday, the council will take a vote on a resolution to disavow Mayor Witt's actions and make it clear the concert would go forward without city permission.

Witt, who is also running for Congress, approved a protest concert last week to be held in Barnes Park on May 30th.

The mayor acknowledged the gathering would violate health orders from Governor Gary Herbert, but said she did not want to infringe on people's First Amendment rights.
