Officers from the Mesquite Police Department are adapting to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. M-P-D Captain Quinn Averett says they're taking the situation very seriously and have implemented various changes to keep officers safe.

Officers are being told to limit contact to the public by suspending performing fingerprints and directing all public requests for records online.

The department has been in close communications with police departments in COVID-19 battlegrounds like Seattle and New York for advice.

Plans are also in place county-wide to assist other departments if one is severely impacted by coronavirus.
