New policies suggested to limit coronavirus in jails
The Utah Sheriff's Association is suggesting several new policies to help limit the spread of coronavirus in jails statewide.
The list released yesterday includes the release of elderly inmates and those with underlying health problems if they do not pose a threat to the public.
Those charged with minor crimes could be released or granted bail instead of going to jail.
Jail employees will also take extraordinary steps to clean and sanitize jails, including providing access to extra soap and warm water for inmates.
