Officer who mishandled Lauren McCluskey case facing disciplinary action

The officer who mishandled reports from Lauren McCluskey weeks before she was killed on the University of Utah campus is facing disciplinary action in a different case.

Officer Miguel Deras received a written warning for mistakes related to a domestic violence case he responded to back in February.

Records show the officer allowed a man accused of assaulting a woman to remain present while he interviewed the alleged victim.

Deras also failed to check if the man was on parole.
