The parents of a University of Utah student who was shot and killed in 2018 are ready to file another multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the school.

The attorney for Matt and Jill McCluskey had planned to file a 56-million-dollar wrongful death suit against the university today.

But the McCluskeys agreed to hold off filing the suit at the request of lawyers for the university, in hopes of moving toward a settlement during a mediation session next week.

Lauren McCluskey died in October of 2018 when her ex-boyfriend shot her near her dorm.

The McCluskeys blame the university for her death, saying Lauren called police multiple times before asking for help because her ex was stalking, harassing and threatening her.
