Police in Woods Cross are going to try adding cameras to their guns.

Officials with the police department say body cameras are generally unhelpful when an officer draws his gun, showing just the arms of the officer and their weapon.

The camera starts automatically when the gun is pulled from the holster, which gives it an advantage over manually activated body cams.

The hope is that by mounting a camera on the gun, police and the public can get a better idea of what happened during an officer-involved shooting.
