Community members for and against conversion therapy in Utah got their chance to talk about it.

At a public hearing in Salt Lake City Thursday, Nathan Dalley pointed out that young people can't consent.

He said he'd been forced to endure the practice, and it drove him to attempt suicide.

Stephen Graham said that conversion therapy helped his son overcome his desires, and that he'd married and fathered four children.

Before the hearing, the state's department of licensing posted responses to a poll that showed 85-percent support for a proposed ban on conversion therapy for minors.
