Governor Herbert is weighing in on the objections of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to a new rule that would ban the practice of LGBTQ conversion therapy in Utah.

During his monthly press conference yesterday, Herbert said he doesn't know anyone who supports the practice of conversion therapy, but he understands concerns that the proposed rule banning the practice may be too broad.

Herbert said the measure being developed by the state's Department of Occupational and Professional Licensing is a good rule and based on science.

But the governor also said the proposal could be tweaked to address the concerns of the Church, saying their comments were just as important as those from any other group.

Herbert said getting comments from all sides is an important part of the rule-making process.
