Salt Lake City Mayor declares state of local emergency

Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall has declared a state of local emergency to prepare for a potential outbreak of the coronavirus. 

The declaration will give Salt Lake City access to state and federal funds if necessary, and will allow Mayor Mendenhall to implement curfews and other preventative actions. 

Two cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Utah, but neither of the patients were in Salt Lake City.
