Salt Lake County's health department is alarmed by the number of teens who are being diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases.

The department recently released its annual report on infectious diseases, noting that chlamydia and gonorrhea were the two most common diseases diagnosed and reported.

The report noted that STD's are among the most prevalent infections reported in youth 15 to 17-years-old.

The department said current methods of STD education and prevention do not seem to be working and should be re-evaluated.
