San Juan County commissioners dropping future federal court appeals

San Juan County commissioners have voted unanimously to drop any future appeals of a federal court's ruling in the county's gerrymandering case.

Earlier this month, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court's ruling that found commission and school board district boundaries had been drawn to make Native Americans a political minority.

Those boundaries were then ordered to be redrawn, making Native Americans the majority.

The decision from the Commission today means the federal court's ruling will not go before the U.S Supreme Court.
