Health officials from the Southwest Utah Public Health Department are expecting to see COVID-19 in schools.

Officials say any preventative measures for in-person learning would not completely keep the virus out from schools and that leaders are striving to not spread it as much as possible.

Earlier this month, the governor issued a mask mandate for schools and officials added that the more obedient and strict schools are then the less likely the virus spreads in an increased rate.

The mandate is expected to be a guide for the Washington County School District Board of Directors as they will hold a meeting today to further discuss reopening plans.
