Utah Republican Congressman Chris Stewart is joining Democratic colleague Ben McAdams in a bid to remove all Confederate statues from the U.S. Capitol building.

Stewart was among 72 Republicans who joined Democrats in passing a bill that would remove such statues from the building.

Stewart said in a tweet after yesterday's vote that the Capitol should be reserved for pieces of art that inspire and unite the nation.

Republican Congressmen John Curtis and Rob Bishop voted against the measure.
