Utah man sentenced to life in prison
A Utah man has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison without parole for the murder six years ago of 60-year-old Belen Perez in her Provo home.
Thirty-five-year-old Jerad Gourdin lived two doors away from Perez in 2014.
Police think she walked in on Gourdin while he was burglarizing her home.
She was found strangled to death with an extension cord.
The day after her murder, Gourdin was returned to prison for a parole violation but he remained a suspect in Perez's murder.
Police say he confessed to Perez's murder while in prison.
