Heavy rains caused flooding in parts of St. George Sunday night, stranding several cars on flooded roadways.

An overwhelming amount of calls to tow services and emergency dispatchers had police asking stranded drivers to just wait out the rain.

Officials said they are using 911 and tow services to prioritize life-threatening concerns.

In Facebook posts both St. George City Mayor Jon Pike and St. George police officer Tiffany Atkin ask area residents to please stay home.

Red Hills Parkway, 100 South from 1000 East to 1200 East and 700 South at 900 East have all been closed due to flooding.
